2nd HDD Caddy for G55 Laptop - Republic of Gamers Forum - 361599

Hello all,

I have done a lot of searching around trying to find a 2nd HDD caddy for my Asus G55 after swapping out the main HDD with an SSD.

I ended up buying http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056EW4A4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it did NOT work. Once I got everything together it would not line up with the SATA connection on the motherboard.

Does anyone have any suggestions of ones they have used and know for a fact it works?

Did you try the Asus Store? I know they have them for the G75 might be the same one for the G55?

I didnt think the Asus store carried HDD caddys? Sorry maybe I wasnt specific enough. By HDD caddy I mean a caddy that will replace the DVD optical drive with a HDD caddy.

I searched the forum for "2nd hard drive G55" there are quite a few threads you might search through @Rewben and @GGBanks threads, several others have made this upgrade

That caddy look like it will work but I am in the US and id rather not order from a .CZ website. I guess I will try to look through the threads again and find something. Thanks.

Yes I believe they have been getting them from EBay and Amazon I don't know which ones are correct thus tried to lead you to some of the threads of the others that have completed this upgrade.

I just browsed through some of the threads and I dont really see alot regarding the G55 optical drive swap to a 2nd hard drive. Ideally I would love to put my 2nd HDD into the optical drive slot then use my DVD drive externally via USB.

Yes several have accomplished this, some others have put in a msata SSD also, not sure but I think the caddy's are the same for G55 and G75 after all its just a DVD slot most likely a dealer selling the caddy would know which one fits the Asus models

I wonder if that one would work better then the one I bought off Amazon. I just could not get the SATA connections to line up after switching the HDD and front bezel over. I might purchased this one and give it a shot. Thanks.
