Finally Upgrading, would like some advice.

Okay so I am FINALLY upgrading my PC mainly because I have the money now and my current system is on its last legs, I last built this when DDR2 was still relevant and the Motherboard was fairly new.

Here are my Current system specs

  • Abit AN52V
  • AMD Athlon X2 4000
  • 6GB DDR2 RAM (Mixing and matching RAM Modules)
  • GeForce 8600GT
  • 400W Generic PSU
  • 200GB HDD
  • Generic IDE DVD Burner

Here is the system I plan on upgrading too...

  • Corsair 350D
  • Asus Maximus VI Gene
  • Intel Core i5 4670K
  • Asus GTX 760 DirectCUII OC
  • Either 8GB Or Corsair Vengeance Pro Red or 8GB G.Skill Trident X 2400 MHz
  • Samsung 840 Evo 120GB SSD
  • Seasonic G Series 650W
  • 1TB Western Digital Blue (Already Owned)
  • Corsair H60 V2 (I already own this so I WILL be using it)
  • And a WiFi Card (I need one due to not being able to route an Ethernet Cable and it is just more convenient for me personally)

So anywho I was wondering if there is anything you guys would change as I have not build a PC In a LONG time, I'm still wrapping my head around this as you can see by looking at my current system specs how long it has been since I Build a PC.

Also I need a WiFi Card, Ideally I would like one I can install into the module that comes with the Motherboard but I would also need Antenna Leads and 2 Antennas and I don't know where to get hold of those.

So what do you guys think and is there anything you guys would change?

I thought a 650w PSU was suitable for SLI especially in an M-ATX Build?

If you don't plan on adding another GPU in the future, you can have a look at the Maximus VI Impact. That one comes with Wifi.

I did consider it but it's more expensive and has less expandability and ITX feels restrictive I like having expansion options.

Well, in that case, better go with a bigger PSU to give you some headroom for future upgrades. Take into consideration that a 2 way SLI GTX 760 can pull up to 500W at full load. That is if your plan is to add another one down the line. 😉

Do you know of any good 750W PSUs in the $/£100 range ? The Seasonic G Series only goes up to 650W.

Also I am still looking on some RAM recommendations that match an ROG board and does anyone have any ideas about any other good M-ATX cases out there?

What about the Seasonic X-Series 750W its about £130 a tad over what i'd like to pay but you can't go wrong with Seasonic (so I've been told).

Or would the corsair HX+ 850w be the better choice? their both 80+ Gold and the same price and for £18 you can get this to go with it http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsair-psu-hx-and-txmodular-series-individually-sleeved-modular-cabl... red individually sleeved cables. and for the hard wired cables I could get some Red sleeved extensions.

Seasonic is one of the best if not the best. Second in line is Corsair. Here are some that are more or less in the £100 range:
Corsair Professional 850W 80 PLUS Gold Certified - £115.97
Seasonic X-Series 750W Full Modular 80+ GOLD - £126.90
Corsair 760W AX760 80PLUS Platinum - £125.97

For RAM, you can grab that TridentX kit you have in your signature. Cases, on the other hand, is a personal choice. So what I like you might not like. LOL Two of those smaller cases that I favor are the Fractal Design Mini and the Bitfenix Prodigy M (Not out yet),

Ah yeah I do suppose the case is a personal choice aha.

I think I'll go with the Corsair PSU simply due to the fact its a higher wattage for the same price.

Thanks for the help :).

Would peeling the sticker off the side of the PSU as it has blue on it void my warranty?

I figured I'd add this here as it is kind of relevant to my build...

The fan grill on the top of the 350D is kind of ugly and it is the only thing stopping me purchasing in so I was wondering if anyone in new of any 120mm x 2 (240mm) fan grills that looks nice but also kinda simple looking nothing to flashy just so I can bolt it to the top would be nice.

Thanks
