Why is sus sticking 5400 discs in laptop

I mean that is so lame, I have hp envy 2 years old that came with 7200 1.5 tb disk, what is the issue here?

Why asus still uses 5400 disc?

the industry is moving from 7200 rpm disks to more power efficient 5400 + caching SSD solutions. I have a brand new 1TB HGST 7200 rpm drive and it's likely going to be the last of its kind.

As for your HDD, if it's two years old I am 99% sure it's over 10 mm thick, meaning it wouldn't fit in the G750, or in any MSI or Alienware for that matter

My system came with 2 750 GB WD drivers, both running at 7,200 RPM. I actually was glad mine was WD as in my experience, they last longer than Seagate and generally have less complications. YMMV of course.

when I say last of its kind I meant for 1TB+ drives, of course there are tons of 7200 rpm 750GB drives, I got the WD one too but it made such an annoying clicking noise I used it as an excuse to upgrade 😛

Are you sure that Asus put in that drive? Best Buy Tiger direct and Newegg, and other Vendors all spec out there own versions. People want cheaper notebooks and putting in a 5400 drive make the unit cheaper.

7200rpm drives arent all 10mm...

5400rpm drive so they can advertise 1tb hdd space so people buying it will buy it for the storage space.

Id still prefer even a 128gb ssd over 1tb hdd. But you know lots of people will buy it based on big number rather than big performance... The market isn't completely educated (yes you can try to argue otherwise but you can't deny the facts).
