That would be rather small for a single drive in a notebook? That said yes you could use it in your new G46, You will have to Clean it first.
See this thread on how to accomplish this if your not sure. You come from the factory with a UEFI GPT set up so you'll have to make a UEFI bootable Media to clean install.

You could just slap it in.
Use a USB stick or a DVD to install windows 8

If uefi is really that important to you... It's not Like ASUS has used a revolutionary UEFI
(psssst! It's UEFI but it has the same design as a BIOS so.... It's not anything amazing...)

You could follow a guide on the interwebz on how to create a GPT UEFI or just good ol' MBR BIOS. For windows 8
Or simply use the program - Rufus, a USB bootable disk creator few clicks and you're done.

Get the Windows 8 iso from a Microsoft website. Don't remember the link and just use Microsoft's own USB bootable disk creator

If you haven't formatted or done anything to your new laptop.

Get ASUS backtracker. Have a 16 gb+ USB stick ready. Let the Think do It's thing...
Remove the old drive. Insert your old drive (have it preformatted or not... I don't know how backtracker works when installing it)
Done your laptop is back on factory settings 😉

lol "just 25 seconds"
but hey, that's an upgrade from a normal HDD 🙂
I am still amazed by the massive short boot time from a current SSD from an 7200rpm
mere seconds from cold boot 🙂
