Official Rampage IV Black Edition X79 Thread

hey guys I Want to buy a Rampage IV Extreme and use with i7 4930K
I have 2 questions about the board
1 - about the boot times, im have watch some reviews and they talk about the BIOS post screen be very slow
even using a windows 8 UEFI configs against the Z87 chipsets boards, what booting are pretty fast... i dont remember if was Legit reviews or anadtech that say that
but im want to confirm if the boot is slow or not,
2 - and if so have a way to solves that or bios update? whatever?

The boot is slower yes...the board has more to do in starting up....not much you can do really apart from disable devices not used... in BIOS... like ASmedia SATA ports...bluetooth etc. However, it's not like you have time to write a novel waiting for the PC to boot, the difference is some seconds... not really a big deal in any real sense.

By the way RIVE is better suited to 3930K the RIVBE to 4930K...

thank you so much, but you think that is a big deal im buy a RIVBE? worth my money? or i can take another motherboard better or another chipset better for hardcore gaming?

Hey last question your boot time? How long does it take in seconds?

Hard to say. I have one and of course it runs games fantastic but really you could get the same gaming functionality from say the new Maximums VII Formula coming out soon...and a Devil's Canyon CPU. And for less money so, purely for gaming maybe not worth it especially as X99 will replace it soon enough. But for quad channel memory if you need it and top marks in benchmarking or running more than 2 GPUs you want the X79 platform and of course if you want more than 4cores .I don't have a CPU at the moment so I can't time the boot but it is fast of you have fastboot enabled...just not as fast as the mainstream boards. But as I say for me the boot time is probably the last metric I would consider in choosing a board..so I haven't really paid much attention to it...

Yes that's about right...I think mine boots a bit faster than that but more or less....that slow for you?

some reviews sites like kitguru, guru3D, anandtech had write in this reviews about rampage IV extreme and black edition thats the boot is slow, because of this im think that be slower
***O.o to me this is faster than my old Gigabyte G1 sniper 3... that board doesnt have a Fast boot option ¬¬
But to me this is super fast... if Rampage IV Black edition boots fast like this Rampage IV extreme, I will love this board

Ah I get you....yeah sometimes I think review sites just need something to write about, I think the Z87 and Z97 borads boot faster but the "slower" is just relative they both boot super quick...I have the RIVBE it is the same boot time more or less as the RIVE. I don't use AS media SATA ports or Bluetooth or USB 3.0 so I disable them in the BIOS and boot is even quicker....

No possibility at all. Haswell-E will not even fit in the socket of the board.
