If I recall correctly the R3BE launched at a $560 MSRP price.
I would expect this board to be right around there.

    Hey Doo.

I thought I'd comment here instead of EVGA where I would be crucified. I set up the EVGA dark for my son's rig. If you load it at defaults with a modest overclock and run a vanilla system (and don't snoop around under the hood much) the Dark is a decent mobo. Not the total abortion the old EVGA X79 line was. So it is humming along with a 3930K doing 4.4 with an H100. It's fine for my son.

But once you start to tinker, the Dark reveals itself to need some work. They finally fixed the ability to disable the onboard sound. That was silly not to have from the gate. I'm getting some weird voltages running Auto settings for the CPU or Memory. If I run these the board mysteriously under volts for no darn reason causing BSOD and failure to boot. I'm getting some weird PCIE lights indicating slot failure...though there doesn't seem to be an issue. The board runs a bit hot and seems to need more voltage than running the same chip on my RIVE. In summary, the Dark needs a long why to go just to catch the original RIVE, let alone a tweaked RIVE Black. If they don't get this ironed out soon, out will go the Dark and in will go the Black. And yes, I am keeping my RIVE. You'd have to pry this board from my cold dead hands.

    Hey mdzcpa...

Lol, I figured as much bud. Threads are popping up more frequently now with different bios issues. No way I get back on the evga train for mobo's at all.

You are right about the fanboys over there though. I get quite some kick out of tweaking them, just can't help myself it seems.

Ah to go Black or just wait for x99, what to do? Have yet to have an issue with this board so I don't see myself going to the Black. Just not enough there to justify it I think.

Mhm, u can stay with ur extreme board since u haven't come no problems with the board so far.. :3 As for me, it be a good reason to go from Formula to the black edition since I want to take advantage of the 8 dim memory slots instead of 4, then add 64gb of memory in and of course having all the cool features that it will bring to the table.

If things go well with it in the future (like 4-5 months) then that's when I decide to either use the formula board for my dads computer since he does play games to but that just leads him to get himself a cpu for it tho.

    Re fanbois and tweaking them.

I know what you mean, and we have our fair share of them here too. The big difference here is that I like to believe that folks will respect each others views and allow difference to have a place. The thing is folks can disagree about stuff and that is good, there is no absolute right or wrong when it comes to most things and we should be able to express our own thoughts and views without fear of being mocked or trolled. The big thing is of course how you express your self. And that is where self respect comes into the equation. ROG guys seem to have quite a fair amount of self respect and self restraint.

Back OT the new board is available for pre-order at some UK stores and is at the same price point the RIVE was on launch. I wonder if that is the same in the US? Are there stores (online) offering pre-orders yet?

Just did a quick search on the egg and a couple more sites, no sign of the Black yet bud.

I also find the respect level much higher on this site than a lot of other sites I visit daily. Just seems to be a very high knowledge level here on the Rog forums.

I don't care, even if its 600 US dollars I wouldn't spend that much for a MOBO!

it> dont forget you and your 600 usd motherboard can hit 7 ghz with a standard Intel cpu!!!

I am sure that justify the price, and is a heavy argument..

And for some reason that 7 ghz result is announced very early, upon release..
