So, are we actually going to see this thing drop on Tuesday? Or should we expect another push back?
rumors are spreading of quality control issues, that may result in a 2014 launch... Obviously, none of the originators can substantiate these claims, but i can't blame people for believing them.

Well, if you overclock, all that chip offers is the extra cache. And the extra cache will only make a big difference in a very specific workload

@bri5150
@Nodens & FireRx Thanks! I was only considering it because of the 15MB of cache, but if you think it won't be noticeable, I'll save a lot by getting the 4940k instead, that is if my budget allows for it, but as of now it things are NOT looking like it will be within my budget this year.
izzyreb02 @ Sorry to hear that you are 'stuck' with the 3960X, but it's still a good choice regardless, is it not?
Skupples@ I have no idea, but it seems plausible that it "might" be pushed back, but most of the retailers have it up for pre-order, so maybe we'll see it up for sell after all. I, myself won't be able to get it for another few weeks or so anyway...if at all, but good luck to the rest of you.
Providing a miricale happens and the studio DOES buy one of my projects, I will probably be getting the ASUS GTX780TI for two reasons, one is future proofing, the other being that it comes with free gifts and game. However, I'll have no choice but to get cheap ram temporarily, ironically, the cheapest for was the Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 2400 with a Timing of 11-13-13-35, a Cas Latency 11 and Voltage 1.65V.. it's ironic because of the slower speeds being more expensive. For the processor, more than likely budget wise, I'm looking at getting the Intel Core i7-4820K for the time being. The stock of 3.7GHz or (Turbo 3.9GHz) doesn't seem too shabby.
As for the release date, the page on Newegg now says, pre-release, with an auto notify button instead of the previous "pre-order." So I am quite confused.. not that it will affect me since I don't have the money for one yet.

What ram are you guys going with on your builds. I would like to get the Corsair Dominator Platinums but they are expensive. What are your thoughts? Brand, Mhz etc?

My last reply isn't showing up, so I'll repeat myself a bit. If all goes well and I can afford to build a new system, I am going to use a lesser known brand simply because it's more affordable. I'll probably get 4 sets of Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)
Desktop Memory Model TLAD38G2400HC11DC01, budget-wise it will be all that I will be able to afford with this new build... for now anyway.
