Windows 8 OEM upgrade to Windows 8.1 Questions

Personally I really liked Windows 8 nice upgrade (for me) from vista. Recently I've heard that Windows 8.1 will be released (For Free to Existing Win 8 users) on October 17th. I was just curious as to how will the upgrade go. A bit of google-ing told me that Retail version owners of Win 8 will be able to use the same activation code for the 8.1. Will it be the same of us Windows 8 OEM G75 owners?

i know windows 8 security is high, if windows 8 is shipping OS, i think you will call asus first, if you bough by youself and upgrate, i think you batter ask microsofe.

From what I've read this is going to push through MS UPDATE at some point not much different that a SP.
So I think your embedded Key will be valid.
As far as Installing before its pushed I would check Asus Download for your Model, to see if any new drivers will be required for 8.1 otherwise installing would be a MS issue. If you Google around you'll find guided if needed Try goggling "ASUS Windows 8.1 clean install guide" it bring up lots of information for you.

The 8.1 will be pushed trough the marketplace (least from my understanding) so when the date goes to 17/10 I guess you go into the marketplace and search for it. I´m sure it will then explain how to install it etc.
Driver vice, there is not much difference so it should work out of the box. You would not call asus if it was just a service pack (correct?) and this is much like a servicepack.

I have installed 8.1 on mine. All you do is make sure you update with the appropriate one (Standard, Pro) and just put in your Windows 8 key and it activates it right away.

That's what I thought, however I don't have Win 8 on my notebook yet so. I think I'll attempt to Clean install it using my upgrade product Key. that is as soon as a bunch of people here tell us that the issues are solved and it worthwhile to upgrade to Win 8! I usually wait for the first SP before up grading. Well I think XP was on SP 2 or 3 before I gave up Window 2000. Right now I know I have no use for the metro interface what so ever.
