Good Decisions for First Build or Overkill?

Thanks everyone for the comments! Based on what everyone has said I tweaked a few things. What do you think? *Also originally I would have liked to change the cooling to the Corsair Hydro H100i but I was afraid it wouldn't fit in the case. The only video I could find showing that it can be put in the case showed them placing it on the inside of a fan that acts as in exhaust? I didn't think they did it right.

Nice looking setup, but if you're only gaming, grab the 4670K instead and use the saved cash to get a bigger internal HDD 😉

I'm actually going to buy the 4770k for about 1/3 of the price because I work in retail. You have to love the perks of working part time at Best Buy while in school. haha

Maximua Hero VI is a great motherboard with great value for money and the dollars save go for a 240GB SSD . Also you need a large hard drive

That is looking good.

Bigger SSD is good advice especially as the sweet spot price wise is in the 240 - 250 GB range it seems.

Welcome to the ROG forums, notides.

That is such a nice system you put together there for a first build. You're so fortunate to be working in retail and be able to get some nice prices. Just because of that, I will suggest the following.

The H100i cost just a few dollars more than a H80i but performance wise, it's a little better. Besides the H100i fits in the Chaser MK-1 so you have nothing to worry about.

Nowadays, a 120GB is the minimum. But 250GB is definately good to have. See if you can squeeze a Samsung 840 250GB in your budget.

The GTX 770 performs on the same level as a GTX 680. And both have almost the same price tag but with the GTX 770 being newer tech. I'd grab a GTX 770 to be honest. 😉

Sounds like a really nice build, just wanted to make sure that your getting Windows 7 Pro 64 bit as 32 bit wont recognise memory that high.

Also definitely look at buying bigger hard drives in my opinion...

Build looks good, and of course all of the advice offered is good.

One thought -- if you have any thoughts of adding a second graphics card down the road, you might consider getting a 1K w psu or higher. In my experience, the psu is a good place to buy with overkill in mind as it will save you money replacing it down the road. In other words, spending a little more now to "future-proof" you psu choice will save you hundreds of dollars a year from now when you decide to grab a second 680 for $100.

p.s. yes, I know my psu is only 850w, but I've hit the ceiling of what it can do and now have to seek an upgrade. 😛

I definitely plan on adding a second graphics card in the future and also probably a second monitor.

Adding another GTX 770 in the future will not present a problem for the AX860. Only if adding a third GTX 770 is in your future plans, will you need something in the range of 1000W-1200W.
