Hello,

Would somebody please tell me how to disable the built-in microphone on the Asus G74sx laptop.

it's Interfering with my voice recognition software

Go to Control Panel, click hardware and sound, under the sound section click manage audio devices, click on the recording tab, click properties on the in built microphone (should be default) and under the general tab of properties you have the option to disable the microphone

Hi,

The problem seems to be that when I disable the audio device it also disables any headset/microphone that I plug into the jacks on the left side of the laptop and all I want to do is disable the built-in microphone which doesn't seem to have its own selection in the sound panel.

The items that are listed in my sound panel are:

Microphone, Realtek high definition audio
stereo mix Realtek high definition audio
headset microphone SB tactic 3-D rage wireless headset

if I disable the first one in the list that it disables the built-in microphone but it also disables any microphones that I plug into the in jack on the left side of the laptop

Any clues?

have you tried setting your headset microphone as the default device?
