Matrix Platinum R9280X @1100/6600 Overheating or it is normal ?

Hi guys , yesterday I bought r9280X matrix platinum , and i have one question .

My temperatures are (IN CELCIUS) , ambient temperature 25-27C : res. 1980x1080

Idle - 46-53 C
Gaming - 66-72 C in bf4 ultra
FULL LOAD - 80 C in furmark

All of those with stock .

As for gaming and Furmark I can agree that is pretty much normal , but I`m worried about IDLE , on reference 5870 it used to be around 35 C , now it is much more , Could you advise me please what I can do besides setting up fans bit higher ?

full load with 80 deg. sounds normal ... adjust the fan curve a bit

* U mnie (matrix 7970) przy 99% gpu usage mam temp 70 jesli ustawię oba wiatraki na jakieś 60-70%. Karta jest przystosowana do takich temperatur, a nawet wyższych (80-90st). Jeśli ustawisz wentylatory tak, aby włączały się wcześniej, powinno być dużo lepiej.

Jak nowy Radeon radzi sobie w grach przy rozdzielczosci 2560x1440 i max quality? Czy stuttering jest zauważalny, obraz lekko przeskakuje ? ?

Dzięki za odpowiedz , a co z idle temperaturą?

Ja gram na 1920x1080 , bf4 na ULTRA 50-75 FPS , non stop. stutteringu nie zauważyłem

U mnie przy 1920x1080 też nie ma, pojawia się przy większej... Idle temp podobnie jak u Ciebie.

Jesteś pierwszą osobą, która założyła tutaj temat odnośnie nowego R9. Wykorzystam sytuację i zadam jeszcze trzy pytanka (zastanawiam się czy jako drugą kartę nie kupić nowego Radka).

Czy karta posiada UEFI VBIOS (czy możliwe jest bootowanie do Win8 z wyłączonym CSM w biosie ?
Czy słyszysz, aby z karty dochodził coil whining ?
Czy karta uruchamia się w trybie bezpieczeństwa po wyłączeniu zasilania (napis MATRIX pulsujący na zielono) ?

1) Mam windowsa 7
2)Coil whining tylko podczas bootwania kompa , jak karta łapie sterowniki to dzwięk ustaje.
3)Nie karta wstaje normalnie , na zielono jeszcze nigdy nie miałem .

Ogolnie mialem na testy w domu radeona 7970 gibabyte windforece 3 OC i jego temperatura w idle wynosila ok 33 stopni wiec tu jest wyraznie wiecej , jak wroce do domu to pobawie się Voltagem , i LLC , podobno troche za duże napięcia ma ta karta stockowo.

That is normal and to be expected, the new cores are warmer than the earlier vga cores due to the shrink in die size. Smaller die size means it is a lot harder to move the same amount of heat away.

Here is example sorry but is in Polish but u should see it easy IT IS IDLE TEMP :
So still my 53 C vs 32 C is HUGE diffirence.

Do you have your card in a case or on a test bench.

Put your card in a system on a test bench and see the difference in temps. 🙂

- You can not be sure if they tested it with default fan setting
- you can not be sure of ambient temperatures they experienced during the test

Problem solved , I didnt realize that 2nd screen prevents Memory downclock , when i switch 2nd screen off , Idle temperature 33 C
End of story 🙂
