USB configuration

Hello,

I realise I've spammed the forum with quite a few threads recently - apologies but I figured with this being a distinct issue I'd start a new one. 😉

I'm configuring the BIOS on my Asus Gryphon Z87 before making a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit. One of the pages I'm having difficulty with is the USB configuration page. The options are:

- Legacy USB support (enabled/disabled/auto)
- Intel xHCI (enabled/disabled/auto/smart-auto)
- EHCI Mode Handoff (enabled/disabled)

Unfortunately, the manual is pretty cryptic.

From what I understand, the Intel xHCI controller should be set to "smart-auto" so that the USB 3.0 ports function as 2.0 ports until I've installed Windows and then the USB 3.0 drivers from Intel, at which point the BIOS will know to have the ports function as 3.0. But at that point I should just change to "enable" anyway in order to force 3.0 functionality right?

What about Legacy USB support and EHCI mode hand-off? I have no clue what these do!

Thanks!
