Haswell-E and X99/socket 2011-3 will be along in Q3/Q4 2014 by all accounts so IB-E and 2011 will keep working until then....after that it will become an item of shame in your house and have to be hidden when the neighbours pop round.

Oh, yes! X79 with SB-E is still one of the most powerful platforms today... IB-E is here too, runs more efficient than SB-E, but is heating more... - personally I think that even when X99 will come out, this platform will still work strong...

so around a year till x99

Zka is right...just added a 4960X to the RIVE X79 which I know well from my 3970X...the Ive-E is more efficient but does put out more heat (or rather more 'concentrated' heat), so make sure you get a strong cooling setup (ie extensive water-cooling).

X79 has already had an amazingly long run and by the time X99 rolls around, other configs such as LGA1150 / 1155 will also leave...1150 in particular seems to have a short run, depending what Intel will actually do with next-Gen Haswell

Whether you're going with 2x Titans / 780 TI Black / 290X or even dual GPU cards, X79 also will give you a nice 16x PCIe3 'natively', another plus

i do online dj streaming while in game (Second Life), as well as video encoding and game captures.

so sounds like a x79 dark, Intel Core i7-4960X Ivy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (Turbo 4GHz), & GTX Titan sounds like a wise investment that will last me a long time for what i do. i forgot to mention i want to power a 4k tv 30 fps too. does the system sound sound enough?

I'd skip the Titan and get 2 780's myself. 4930K instead also...that's money in the bank!
