$25 Reward: help me get this 4.7ghz stable

So I just put together a new rig, here are the relevant specs:

Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 3.4GHz
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
32GB (4 x 8GB) G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series DDR3 2400 10-12-12-31
PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 1200W
Corsair Hydro H100i liquid cooler

I tried a couple things:

Gamers air/water cool profiles. Temperature not an issue but Windows will not boot.
Loading xmp then choosing Level Up and the system won't pass bios, saying temperature limit error.

I assume 4.7ghz should be possible, I just don’t know enough about it to make informed settings given the hardware I have. I will paypal anyone $25 if they can give me some specific UEFI setting I can try that will give me a stable 4.7ghz.

A cash reward for overclocking help! LOL Why didn't I think of that? 😉

There's a sticky at the top of this forum re: Ivy Bridge-e overclocking, that's pretty much the best/only method. They don't clock particularly well, if you can reach 4.7ghz it means you got a really good chip. 4.6ghz may be possible, 4.7 is less likely.

If you do reach 4.7, please keep your $25 and just send me your chip instead. 😛
Asus RIVBE • i7 4930K @ 4.7ghz • 8gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 CL8

EVGA Supernova 1300W• Asus VG278H & nVidia 3d Vision
Phanteks Enthoo Primo w/ custom watercooling:

There is no shortcuts doing this my brother..

Save yourself those 25, and roll up your sleeves..

LOL. I was afraid that might be the case 🙂

Buy i7-3930K and you'd probably get it to 4.7.

See? It was completely and utterly simple. (Also I think people who pays money for overclocking to be similiar to people who pays other men to have sex with theirs wife.)

Or people who buy computers from Alienware. 😉

I always view them as a people who are trying to get alien infection. Alas, they are unsuccessful.

Just in case you are still chasing this: Try this lot below. I am gradually lowering my voltages all round but this is where it's at on air for me right now. I used the guide available here and this one as well X79 Overclocking Guide

Got 4.6 stable on the 125 strap but need more time to get that sussed @ 4.7

4.8 is stable under water btw @ 1.42v ..

Just had a quick look at bios settings.

You don't need such high VTT. It doesn't helps with CPU overclock. Leave it at 1.1V
Vcore mos volt can be left on auto. VCCSA LLC would be better to set at high (with VCCSA voltage at 1.15v)
Try to set CPU voltage freq at like 550KHz.
PLL may be too low for 4.8, Set at least 1.7v.
Both spread spectrum should be disabled.

DRAM tRAS timing is VERY low, I'm pretty sure you need to increase it to at least 25. Keep in mind, tRAS isn't always lower=better. Using tRAS < tCL+tRCD may cause instability.

Also, rampage tweaker option isn't very optimized for Ivy-E CPUs now. I recommend to leave it on auto until some BIOS updates arrives.

Hope these tips would be any helpful.

PS lol I just realized these settings aren't posted by this thread author) My bad, I'm sorry.

Lol .. that's fine! Any pointers to possibly lower heat/stability is ok and then maybe I can get 4.8 on air with a bit less voltage, possibly ... or be able get that 125 strap stable @ 4.7 maybe. Not done yet as I haven't gone to town on the RAM and have that 125 strap in mind ...
