G750JH - "unknown device" after Windows 8 installation

    Hi all,

Because of many BSODs on Windows 8.1 i decided to reinstall Windows 8. After that i installed all
Windows Updates und all Asus Drivers/Software from the ASUS Homepage. But now in the Device Manager
an "unknown device" is shown. I dont know what it is:

    Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\5&2cb159ae&0&5

    Port_#0005.Hub_#0003

Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems

All 4 USB Ports working fine. I also installed the Intel Chipset driver with "-overide -overall" option,
    but it doesn't help.

Does anyone know what driver is missing?

    Thanks and best regards
    Jürgen

Googling "Port_#0005.Hub_#0003" brought up a variety of issues with new OS installs that now have issues with USB device support. You say all your ports are working, but are all your devices (usb drives, printers, etc).

It could also be a driver error if you installed off a USB drive, something created an error with the USB device (usb drive) and recorded the error in Device Manager.

Either way, the errors only represent a usb device as non fuctional, so as long as everything works then you should be good to go.

    The funny thing is:

It says Port #0005. But the G750 has only 4 USB Ports. I only had plugged in the mouse. No other USB Devices are plugged in.
So when i try to plug in the mouse in one of the 4 Ports i see it in the device Manager with Ports Port_#0001.Hub_#0003
to Port_#0004.Hub_#0003. But what is Port_#0005. It must be a internal device. I searched Google the whole day, but nothing
found. I tryed also the "FixIt" from Mircrosoft for the "Code 43" error. Does not help.

Would bluetooth run off a usb "port"?

I can't think of anything else it could be.

Check under 'Imaging devices' for the USB webcam too, but Windows should install the driver by default, so not something you should have to worry about.

No, Bluetooth is built into the Wireless card.

@OP: Did you make sure to install the chipset driver (and did you install it first)?
