I bought a 2nd Sata hard drive caddy for my G74SX-DH71 back in may of 2013 for about 10 bucks. The people that I bought it from asked me a few questions for dimensions and such to make sure everything will be flawless and will fit correctly. They were really quick to respond, and were nice to deal with. Just be sure to give them what the full make and model of laptop you have and whatever they need to know.

The process is pretty simple.

1) Buy a hard drive. I bought a 1TB 7200 RPM drive from Newegg back in May 2013.

2) Buy a 2nd Sata hard drive caddy for the G74sx. about 10 bucks on eBay.

3) Open the drive bay under the G74SX. Remove the lock screw for the Blu-ray drive.

4) Pull the Blu-ray module out of the machine. Remove the plastic bezel cover from the unit without breaking it.

5) Follow the directions that came with the drive caddy. Put the plastic bezel onto the hard drive caddy. It just snaps on.

6) Follow the directions that came with the drive caddy. Install the hard drive into the caddy and insert it into the cd drive bay of the laptop. Put the lock screw back in.

7) Put the cover back on, and screw the cover on. Fire up the laptop, Right click "Computer" and go to Manage. Click Disk Management. You should be prompted to initialize the new hard drive. Do so and format it.

😎 Use the new drive as you would any other.
