Asus G73J ( i5 450M ) Change CPU?

Hello again all 🙂
I have the Asus G73J with i5 450M CPU dualcore.
I want a highend i7 CPU with 4 cores, is it possible to change it, and will it work?
If any, please tell me what kinds of CPU's that can be placed in 🙂

Yes you can. Have you verified whether you have 2 or 4 memory slots?

You can use any 1st Gen i5/i7 chip, like the 720/740 QM, 840QM or 920XM as some examples. No Sandybridge for you, however.

Hi i'd like to to this upgrade too (upgrade i5-450m to i7-940xm), i know they are using the same socket G1, but im not sure about power supply section, i read it's diffrent onmobo (i know i need to upgrade my ac charger to min 180w) is it vaible ? Is it gonna work if yes, will i be able to do OC this CPU ? Pls anserw, thank u in advance!
