After installing Windows 8.1 I found that during game play my mouse and keyboard would freeze then come to life and the 'Activation/Deactivation' chime played through the headset.
Now there was a lot of talk about mouse polling rates etc, and a patch was made for that, but I found a different problem.
Microsoft have installed a power saving feature which disables USB devices when not in use; however, it is doing this during game play. Here are the steps for anyone else having problems.
Control Panel>Device Manager>Human Interface Devices
Right Click and select Properties of USB Input Device or Gaming Virtual Keyboard/Mouse and you will see 'Power Management'
If you select that tab you will get two choices, they are
Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power,
Allow this device to wake the computer (this one is usually grayed out)
Now you have to go down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Control Panel>Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus Controllers
I found the same settings under
Generic USB Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub (xHCI)
This worked for me playing World of Tanks and it has not affected anything else (I hope)
I guess it was mate for tablets and laptops, hopefully they will bring out a patch for it, but I have not had a problem since.
Cheers
