Hi everyone,
Can we expect a drop in the price of the G750JX (770M) after christmas ?
the price is way too high right now 1600$ CA.
And what about the refresh of the ROG series.

I wouldn't count on any price drops during or after the holidays. Although there are some computer devices that drop in price, top tier products like gaming laptops are usually far more dependent on the latest hardware releases over consumer demand.

The JW is a good model, most of the 765m gpu chips seem to overclock very well and can keep up with most of today's games with High settings.

I was asking when the asus gxxx refreshes every year..
About the prices, the 340$ bonus to go from the msi to the asus are a high amount of money..

sasuke256, if the money is a problem, get the MSI, it is a fine laptop for the price. I really liked it. But, if you want the higher performance of the Asus with low fan noise under load, then save up the $ and get the Asus.

Make sure you are fairly comparing the specs between the MSI and the Asus. Here the difference is only $100-$150 for the essentially the same spec - except the processor in the Asus is the HQ version of the Haswell i7 4700.

The Asus has the Haswell i7 4700HQ and the MSI has the Haswell i7 4700MQ which doesn't have VT-d enabled, which for me is important when running VM's.

4700HQ

For me the Asus was a much better purchase, even if it was a little more $.

Asus has already done a refresh, they added an "A" to the end of the model, but IDK what the changes were. It might be updated rev's of the motherboard chip set that doesn't have the USB bug.

There is a G750JHA, a G750JXA, but I don't see a G750JWA yet. Look at the BIOS updates for each model to see the "A" models mentioned.

thanks for the constructive answer 🙂
i'm kinda thinking about getting the ASUS JW and OC it to make the GTX 765M enough for Full HD gaming 🙂 i kinda need the dual fan cooling because of the ambiant temps in my country in the summer...
is there any unlocked bios for the g750jw ?

Cool, you are gonna love the G750 🙂

If you can stretch for another $100-200, pick up a G750JX with a 770m, out of the box the OC on both the JW and JX was good, but the JX has more potential and isn't that much more expensive - as opposed to the JH for another $1200. I was happy with both, and both OC'd nicely.

A word of wisdom, don't count on anything you purchase to OC wildly, it is the luck of the draw and sometimes you don't get a part with a lot of headroom to OC. And, it isn't easy to return and try again, and again, not too cool either - so be happy with what you get - a few FPS won't matter in the long run anyway 🙂

The problem with unlocked BIOS/vbios is that you end up depending on someone else that may or may not be there in the future when you need to update to a new system BIOS by the vendor - and you end up stuck on an old system BIOS or have to choose loosing your OC or getting the new BIOS.

If you can teach yourself how to patch the BIOS/vBIOS yourself, build or get the tools to do it in the future, then it is a great thing to know how to do and you are future proof should the BIOS/vbios modder get bored, married, or employed 🙂
