Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this? My G750jx shows the HD Audio SERVICE running at 20% all the time... And yes, latest drivers etc are installed...
Take it light....

Pretty weird, it doesn't show any CPU usage during Hulu+ playback with Multimedia processing and Loudness equalization checked in Realtek HD. 5% CPU usage overall during playback:

30389

I will try a couple of other playback modes, and see if I can see if there is any difference.

So, that 20% utilization during idle looks like atypical behavior.

When you open the Playback devices dialog, do you see any audio throughput on any devices, green bars going up and down? Maybe some kind of processing is going on but not coming out of the speakers?

Malakie, what version of Realtek are you running? Are you on Windows 8 or 8.1?

Here is the newest Asus ready Realtek driver I know of, .7040
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?38118-Sonic-Radar-Realtek-Audio-Driver-V6.0.1.7040-for-Wind...

adamseyes, do you have a link to a newer version?

192k is available on some of my devices, but not on the speakers... locked to 48k, Malakie what is your audio format set to?

a .7086 was released. It uses the latest realtek (2.72) codecs that brings various of improvements but with ASUS tweaks included for Windows 8.1. This one enables 192k for all Modes, including speakers ;D

here is the link direct download Realtek 6.0.1.7083 (W8.1):
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=3&s=589&m=Audio&os=41&ft=4&f_name=Audio_Realtek...

or here
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Audio&os=30

Only download the 6.0.1.XXXX latest driver. do not install any different Numeric ID. they will lead to issues.
Although be aware that some versions will tend to be released with a lower or older version 6.0.1.XXXX but yet are listed on the latest drivers or newer ones, if that's the case, don't bother downloading them. they usually are bad as well. So the purest and the one that actually works is 7083 as of now

Thanks Adamseye, .7083 from the first link installed, and gave me new options for my BT headphones:

30392

Been missing those options since Windows 7 🙂

The 2nd link took me to a promising place, but when I clicked the drop down menu for Windws 8.1 64/32bit it took me here:
http://support.asus.com/error.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/Download.aspx

Probably a website issue, or Asus is working on website changes...

I am noticing some typing lag, but it might be unrelated... I dropped down to just the Loudness option and the lag seems gone, I will watch it / use it for a while before recommending it.

The typing lag was still there this morning, and while watching Hulu+ I was getting lip sync lag... it might be my particular use/setup, but I downgraded to .7040 and the lag(s) are gone...

BTW, I downloaded .7040 and used the Asus installer and this time it worked, because I am now on Windows 8.1, so the installer was happy. 🙂

My Realtek driver version is 6.0.1.6809 which is the original that came on my g750jw. I have downloaded the 7083 update but am wondering if I have problems with the audio after installing, how can I get back to the original version?

Thanks,
Susan

You should be able to manually uninstall it completely then install the older version. Just re-run the installer and it should let you install, uninstall or repair...
