G73JH will not take current video driver

Hello,
I just bought a G73JH with Win8 and because some programs I need are not supported by Win8 I wiped and installed Win7.

I went through the list of drivers and have it pretty much working, except the video driver. I've combed the site (and others) looking for a way to install the right driver, however I am having trouble.

The driver "13-9_mobility_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe" which I got when I ran "catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe" will not install. As soon as I click on it I get a long error that reads something like: "The version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows I am running...etc."

So if that is the right driver, I am at an impasse. The file is "13-9_mobility_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe" It's naming convention implys it is for win 7 and 8 machines running 64. I am on a win7 64 spk1.

So I tried the Beta file: "amd_catalyst_13.11_mobility_betav9.4.exe" Which installed just fine. AFTER I ran Driver Sweeper, the .bat file on another thread, and un-installed the old one.

I did all the because the Asus driver "VGA_WIN7_64_868300.zip" was not working in games such as War Thunder. (I was getting huge trees in the sky)

The beta driver fixed the tree-in-the-sky problem for about 5 minutes, but then I got a GSOD and the error: fatal error: graphics card driver d3d9ex with code 0x8876086C.

I'm not sure if I am a candidate for a vBios flash or not. I downloaded the 93vBIOS_OD.rar but I'm not sure that is the most recent, nor am I sure I need a vBios update.

I used TechPowerUp GPU-Z to get this info:
Bios version string: BR35992.001
AtomBios version: VER012.017.000.004.035992

If I could install the non-beta driver I might be okay, but how do I convince it I am on the correct version of windows?

Thanks

You can't install ATI drivers on the original vBIOS. You are definitely a vBIOS candidate. I installed OD2 vBIOS in my G73jh and really like it. I have the latest ATI drivers too! THe temps are lower and the battery last longer, plus I can use Overdrive in CCC if I want. GPU-Z says my vBIOS is "012.020.000.032.038352 (BR038352.001)"

Interesting. Thanks.

How do I check my vBios version. And where can I get the latest update? Or is the one I have it?

Also I need a bootable USB. I made a win7 bootable usb. Will this work or will I need to format it due to it wanting to start windows?
---
I should add I am running the 3.11 beta currently and with just anhour or so of testing, I've had no issues. I installed it after dropping my driver to VGA.
Thanks

All of the instrxns are included in your download. It should have OD2 included (the latest) Use a DOS bootable USB formatted as FAT 32. (see first sentence.)
