    GPU fan stops working?

    hey guys,

does anyone have this problem? i see that my GPU fan stops working, i have a cooling pad and took the bottom cover down for a better cooling.. so today when i lifted up my G75 to clean it... i noticed the fan was not working at all... true GPU temp was showing 35C so i did run HW64info and noticed that it really stops working since it showed 0 minimum RPM at the GPU fan cant tell what makes it stop or not....

so did any of u see this? or has this problem?

    Completely normal!

At 35°C the GPU fan will indeed stop, and at about 40°C (as the temps slowly climb back up to this point) the fan will start up again.

In HWiNFO, It will show 0 RPM or not even display the GPU fan sensor readings at all when the fan shuts off. This is normal.

The CPU also has this same function as well.

well i saw it on idle... but then i run HWiNFO and i did play little, then i checked HWiNFO and it showed minimum RPM 0 for GPU... so that means while i was play`n at some point the FAN stopped

Did you have HWiNFO already running before you started the game?

yes ofc HWiNFO was running before game started... and when i started HWiNFO at that time FAN was working at minimum 1996 RPM.

EDIT: also i notice now that FAN does not kick in until 40C for ex just opend the laptop now and its in idle and FAN did not start until it hit 40C since FAN does not work even in idle temp rises to 40 once it starts it drops too 35 when gets to 35 it stops ... temp rises slowly too 40 and so on... i did not use HWiNFO since i have bot cover down and i see the fan.

so this means FAN works as Dreamonic said... so i will try later today to play some games and start HWiNFO and see again if fan stops again or maybe it was just a one thing....

but i notice that every time i play games and have HWiNFO info running i get like spykes ....without it games work fine.

guess this is why i get the performance drops from HWiNFO while play`n.... this warning here even says it

hmm clearly there is a problem with sensor or something.... as u see in the pick below now the current FAN speed is 0 since its below 35C and the minimum show still at 1990

Now I see what you are confusing here.

In HWiNFO, there is a CURRENT, MINIMUM, MAXIMUM and AVERAGE column, as you can see in the pic.

The CURRENT column indicates 'live' status read by the sensors.
The MINIMUM column indicates 'lowest' status recorded by the sensors.
The MAXIMUM column indicates 'highest' status recorded by the sensors.

The AVERAGE column indicates 'min and max' status ratio from the recorded values between these sensors.

When the fans are running hard during a gaming session and let's say you leave HWiNFO running in the background (for this purpose) it will detect your lowest (minimum) read temp and your highest (maximum) read temp. Now let's say you shut your game down and decide to get some grub. Upon your return, if the fan shuts off during the period it was left to idle, your CURRENT column for the GPU fan RPM will display 0 RPM or -9999 RPM all while still adjusting MINIMUM, MAXIMUM and AVERAGE temps until HWiNFO is closed or values reset. There will be times when the EC sensor for the GPU will disappear altogether; The -9999 RPM readout is resolved by restarting HWiNFO.

Your system is functioning properly; You can't stop a conscientious mind!
