I understand, thanks for explaining this to me Hivizman!

Hmmm i wonder now if i would run into such problems with 2 OC'ed 780 with my I7 4770K @4.5GHz, i really hope not! This would be a dissapointement.

What about running the card in the 3rd PCI slot on my maximus vi formula and leaving the 2nd one "free"?

    Cheers !

No you will not. The Haswell is a very efficient CPU.

What i read pleases my eyes Hivizman! THANKS! What about running the card in the 3rd slot and leaving the second one open? Woud it work or not? I'd really much like to leave the second one open so the lead card can "breathe" nicely and doesn't get too hot!

    Cheers

I strongly suggest that you use the proscribed slots, but the proof is in the testing. What I would do is test with both options and then depending on the performance outcomes go with which ever one you are more comfortable. Use a game benchmark that benefits from VGA and not a CPU bound game benchmark. Or use Unigene Heaven.

I am going to use the second pci slot then and just accept it!

I think temperature wise everything will be alright since the card i have now wit OC never gets higher than 64 degrees celsius.

    Cheers

There is still a question on my mind, i've read that in sli mode it is good to have the 2 GPUS at the same speeds (mem clock, gpu clock) because the
faster one will adapt to the slower one so they run the same speeds.

For example card 1: +100mhz gpu clock, 300mhz mem clock
card 2: +75mhz gpu clock, +250mhz mem clock.

card 1 then automatically adapts to card 2 and clocks down to +75mhz gpu clock and +250mhz mem clock.

Is this still present, and true?

Arne stated though that different clock and mem speed isn't a problem. I just want to confirm.

    Thanks for your help guys!

    Cheers

You should find the limits for both in order to select the lowest common denominator and be stable.

Ok, so if i find out that both are stable at +75mhz gpu clock and +250mhz mem clock i run it like that?

Can't i run the lead card at +100mhz gpu clock, +300mhz mem clock for example and the second one which i got now at +75mhz gpu clock and +250mhz mem clock? Will the faster one adapt to the slower one? (Just fictive numbers of OC)

    Cheers
