GTX 780 DC02 GK110B revision not working with Quiet Fan BIOS

I recently purchased an Asus GTX780 DC2OC and tried to update it to the Quiet Fan BIOS found on the Asus webpage ( https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX780DC2OC3GD5/#support ), but I get a "This patch does not support this Card!" error every time I run the update.
The ASUS GPU Tweak shows that I’m running the 80.80.21.00.AS04, which seems to be tied to the new GK110B revision (http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/148529/asus-gtx780-3072-130927.html ). As best as I can tell, the quiet-fan versions of the BIOS are built for the GK110A version, so I suspect that is the source of the problem.
I plan on giving Asus tech support a call on Monday, but in the mean time, do any of you know if it would be safe to flash the quiet-fan GK110A bios onto a GK110B board?

dont mix bios on other revisions.
look at the date of the bios.
it can be implemented on the B rev. card you have.

I'm not so sure, nvflash displays a pretty alarming error when I try to manually flash to 80.10.3A.00.AS05

I would not do the flash. If you wish you can set the fan speed lower for defaults via software. This is all the bios will do.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

you can use MSI afterburner and set up a profile there if so.
i did use it on my other cards and it worked for me, i had it on auto.

Doesn't look like it. I downloaded Afterburner and set a custom fan curve to what the Quiet BIOS should have as a minimum (27%), but the fan's still bottom out at the standard 37%.

I just received this card from Amazon. It's SUPER quiet. To my surprise more quiet than the MSI version. My BIOS is version 80.80.21.3B. The BIOS Update also failed for me, but i believe I have the "quiet fan" BIOS because this thing isn't loud. Idle is still 37% but the RPM at 37% is 1090 RPM and is silent.

I’m glad your card is quiet, but if it bottoms out at 37% dutycycle, then it is not flashed with the Quiet Fan BIOS. In my case the 780DC2 (80.80.21.00.3B as well) is the loudest thing in my computer at both idle and load.

As best I can tell, Asus started selling the GK110B 780DC2OCs late September (see the date at http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/148529/asus-gtx780-3072-130927.html) , and I’m a little confused that some two months later this revision isn’t fully supported.

Above you state your BIOS version is 80.80.21.00.AS04, not 80.80.21.00.3B.

Also, I am not sure I'd make that assumption. I had the MSI GTX 780 (Twin 80.80.21.00.3BFrozr) and it's louder than this Asus card. The idle RPM of that card was 32%, BUT, the RPM is the same the Asus card. Every fan is different. The MSI fans are 90mm, Asus' are smaller, therefore requiring more RPM to maintain (essentially) 1000 RPM. Personally I'd pay more attention to the RPM than the Fan %. I have an extremely silent case (Fractal Define R4) and i am very pleasantly surprised by the completely silent idle. At load the fan will approach 55% (sometimes 60%) and while there is noise, it is not obnoxious like the MSI card or EVGA cards I've owned in the past.

The newer revision cards were (I believe) already flashed with the newer quieter bios profile. I don't really see how they could be quieter at this point unless they are off. (at idle)

No assumptions made; the Asus tech-support rep I spoke to last Saturday confirmed that the quiet bios ( 80.10.3A.00.13, http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/144655/asus-gtx780-3072-130801.html) lowers the idle minimum to 27%, and is not compatible with GK110B boards.

You're absolutely right that different fans at different RPMs will behave differently, and again I'm happy you think it's quiet, but the card is physically capable of being much quieter, see http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?36769-780-bios-update-for-quiet-fan-profile-not-working-on-... .

The fact is that Asus's Quiet Fan BIOS still isn't compatible with the GK110Bs some two months after the fact. Don't you think that's a little silly?
