I may have to run in Legacy as my newish video card is not UEFI. What are the disadvantages of running in legacy?

Thank you for any comments!

It all depends on what your OS is mate and what your actual hardware is. Please list the hardware and OS type.

But yes fast boot is one.

Support for large HDDs (via GPT).

Unified driver platform for hardware components (e.g. graphics, SCSI card, etc.) allowing hardware to be used during Boot/Installation/No OS/OS missing drivers.

Basic level OS in motherboard ROM, capable of running simple apps (e.g. from USB sticks) and performing maintenance, such as partitioning and formatting drives.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

In full UEFI mode there are other advantages as well such as the OS interfacing with the hardware in a better way and due to the ESP and Recovery partitions when you install in UEFI mode it's much harder to end up with an unbootable system if your system crashes for whatever reason.
