G74sx Brightness Problems

Azzazel

Hi All,

I've got a G74sx , i can't change the brightness of my screen.

I have popping balloons from the brightness control but no difference...

I also tried changing the brightness levels from the control panel.

This is really killing my eyes cause it's seems to be on max.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I would uninstall your current drivers, and do an optional clean install of the current nvidia beta or whql set.

Uninstall ATK Package 1.0.0008 on your system, reboot, then install ATK 1.0.00010

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/ATKPackage/ATKPackage_Win7_64_Z100010.zip

Keyboard Filter should already be 1.0.0003

Still no luck , i need to manual change it from the nvidea control panel.

I had a problem just like this one on my desktop pc. The problem was that I had gone through the Windows 7 "Calibrate Color" procedure and set my gamma too dark. Every time I restarted my PC I would need to open nVidia Control Panel then deselect "Use nVidia Settings" and reselect it. And I never found the problem until I was about to get rid of that PC. lol What I needed to do was to simply go back to the defaults for that whole "Calibration"

Go to Control Panel >> Display >> then click on "Calibrate Color" (this is a misleading name because it affects a lot more than just color)

ALSO, if you have Power 4 Gear installed, there is a brightness setting for each power profile. You may want to look into that, too. 😉
Read the User's Manual for more info. 😄

sounds like a problem with your Power4Gear software. try uninstalling it and seeing if you can change your brightness then. if so, i'd recommend going back to a slightly older version.

Hi JRd1st,
I will try that later and let you know of the outcome.
I am not sure if i have Power 4 Gear installed , but it sounds familiar.

Hi grungeboy,
I try that as well too.

To all.
This is a bit off topic to this post.
But I had a problem with streaming videos like from youtube.
I got that fixed by updating my flash.
However now i am having problem with the video quality.
When i increase the quality of the video to 720P or higher , i see strange blocks/pixels when certain objects are in motion. The quality is not crisp. Even with letters , they have rough edges.

Your help is appreciated as always.
