    Thermal Pad under VRM heatsink

Hello. I have a question and hopefully someone can help me out. I have an Asus Crosshair Formula Z motherboard with a full cover Ek VRM waterblock and I need to replace that with the stock VRM heatsink because I am about to sell the motherboard. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what thickness the stock thermal pad was for the VRM heatsink is so I can replace it. EK recommended using a 0.5mm thickness thermal pad with their waterblock. Will that apply for the stock heatsink too or does that use a different thickness?

    TIA

it use to be a soft 1,5mm (green) on some of the other recent boards, thats all i can tell. Like the maximus 5

Can be replaced with a stiffer 1mm..

0,5mm is too thin for a stock VRM heatsink on maximus 5, the stanoffs are 1mm tall i think

measure the hight of the standoffs, on the stock heatsink, the rest is easy

if they are 1mm in hight, use regular 1mm pads, not thinner..

mount the heatsink with the new pads (do not fully tighten) then remove it and check the prints

    good luck..
