G74SX replacement power adapter [solved?]

My power adapter for my G74SX has failed. The current adapter APD-150NB D is no longer available to be purchased from ASUS in Australia (where I live) so what options are available.

The APD-150NB D is 19.5v 7.7a 150w with a 5.5mm/2.5mm plug

The closest thing on the ASUS website is the 180w, has anyone actually used this with the G74SX, I would presume the 19v would be in tolerance.

What about the Targus 180w, that looks like my next best bet, I presume someone has tried that one.

Yes I have aleady attempted to talk to ASUS about it but way to angry to talk about their lack of care.

I would ask that you post links to both power adapters, because then I could take a look and let you know. Have you tried contacting @cl-Albert about your experiences? It is true that power adapters fail after a certain amount of time, but you should be able to get a replacement, either from ASUS, or from someone else.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Sorry, here are the links:

The ASUS 180w is:
http://shop.asus.com/store/asusau/en_AU/pd/ThemeID.34023100/productID.282036100/categoryID.63673700

The Targus (Liteon) 180w is:
http://www.amazon.com/Lite-On-Adapter-PA-1181-08-APA05US-Aspire/dp/B0048NW1WA/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

No I haven't contacted @cl-abert as I really just want to have a working laptop again, which I am sure will be fine shortly.

The Targus isn't listed as compatible, so far as I can see, so I would be hesitant to use it as a result, the voltage is likely too low, but the G-series power adapter that ASUS lists is also only 19 V, but at least it is official. I can't say that either would work. Do you know what the wattage on your old power supply is?

The original G74SX ASUS (Delta Electronics) adapter is 150w, there is still a link to it on the US ASUS estore, though it is listed as out of stock
http://us.estore.asus.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=720

I found a reliable local reseller who can get me the 180w ASUS adapter, so I have ordered it, hopefully it will be ok as it is only 0.5v under, which is about 2.5%.

Also on the US estore lists the 180w adapter as 19.5v, all just to confuse things.

Yes, ASUS has used at least 2 versions of the 180w adapter with slightly different voltages and I wouldn't be too concerned about it if you can't get the exact same one to match the input label under your notebook (in the battery bay?) if the difference is only 0.5v.

Anyway, don't expect you will see any problems using the 180w ASUS adapter.

Thanks for the reassurance, I will post back once I get the adapter, hopefully from G74SX machine. (Could be up to a week based the reliability of the Australian postal service),

The ASUS adapter model FA180PM111 (part number on the box 90XB00EN-MPW040) arrived earlier today, the unit is a perfect fit.

Actual specs on the adapter are 19.5v , 9.23A, which by maths is 180w (the box lists it as 19v thus the confusion)

Very happy, the charge level on the battery kept going up whilst gaming, I would even say it feels smoother but I haven't really pushed it yet.

Just to add to this, there is a compatible adapter available on Amazon that appears to be a direct replacement for the FA180PM111. Only $50 and got some good reviews so it seems to be a good one. Here's a link:
