Just found this thread. I don't have a ROG board, just a Q87M-E and have the exact same issues with my Haswell 4770.

Same errors in event viewer. Fresh install of 8.1. No RAID. Old SATA III spinny disk. Default BIOS settings. Default Windows drivers. I tried using the latet Intel chipset drivers before and it didn't make a difference.

After using hibernate, then shutting down, it usually works. It's only after I do a reboot is when it breaks and I get the fast start error (0xc00000d4) and the critical error about a clean shutdown. It's as if the reboot is corrupting the hibernation file.

I'm using the latest BIOS for my board, though I had the same issue with an older version. I also ocassionally get the RaidPort0 reset warning, but usually only after messing with BIOS settings and (now) after resuming from suspension.

Very annoying, especially when my 5 other (older) PCs with 8.1 work perfectly well.

I assume there's still no fix?

Well, it seems the "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued" warning may be due to a disk that was in my optical drive. I remember having this issue before when a disk was in the drive, and remembered I had my ASUS driver disk in there just now. I guess it was timing out waiting for the drive to spin up and threw a warning. Removing it seems to have fixed this particular warning. I haven't tried seeing if that has any relation to the fast start problem.

EDIT: nevermind. the raidport0 warning came back after a while.

How can I find out what device this is? I don't even have a RAID configuration.

ASUS- not to blame for this bug. MSI- exactly the same bug.

Judging by the number of answers to this query - "Disabling Fast Boot Windows 8" in Google, this function itself is buggy.

Well, specifically with HASWELL can not be friends. haswell - buggy chipset !!!

It's not just Fast Startup that this bug breaks, it's Hibernate as well (which is a HUGE problem). Try hibernating and then immediately waking up your PC. It should fail just the same way that Fast Startup does becasue they use the same mechanism.

Fast Startup is basically logs all users off and then Hibernates.

Also your right about it not being limited to ASUS, I have a Z87 ASRock board that has the same problem.

Why does "fast boot" works well on laptops and do not work on desktop? The answer is obvious. power supply and haswell.

I found the answer to this question !!!!))

Я буду писать на русском языке. Проблема заключается в в блоке питания и haswell.
    Как быть и что делать?
