how high of a demand do you guys see in having a AMD Gene board?
Good question, and perhaps a answer at the same time?
If we look at it from my perspective (the consumer), a AM3 GENE board would probably be in the same price range as the current Maximus III Gene.
The Phenom II X6 1055T is in the same price range as the similar (
performance wise) Intel i5-750, and dual channel DDR3 required in both cases.
The price would be equal for both systems, but you would get 2 more cores in the AMD one.
From a consumer standpoint, I guess it comes down to preference in this case.
Looking at it from a marketing view, I guess a GENE AM3 board would be competing against the Maximus III Gene. Since it costs money to develop such a thing, the net income would be lower.
Hence, waste of money to make one.
A 3rd perspective could be the from the fanboys.
Why would ASUS make engineering pearls that are impossible to make money of off (Mars, Ares) and claim a AM3 GENE having no demand?
Conclusion: I guess you have some marketing report around claiming there are no market for such a board, or we would have seen one already.
How far off am I?
