G46VW SSD Questions

Hey guys, I've been searching on the forums for a semi-detailed guide, as I am quite new to PC gaming, on how to install an SSD. I watched JWPWNS1 video on the dismantle and i think I got that down, however I have a few questions about how to get my OS system onto my SSD and off my HDD. I have a windows 8 dvd, however I'm not to sure if I'd need a product key, I've never used the DVD before. Also, is getting into the BIOS and all that stuff doable for a noob like me? Have tutorials already been posted? Any links and suggestions would be awesome because after all the praise I've heard SSD's getting, I'd really love to upgrade!

Don't worry about the key, it is embedded in the BIOS now, so when you install Windows 8, it will (or should) automatically pick up the key and use it. Actually, you can create a recovery USB/DVD (don't know which it is on the G46) and that will definitely pick up and use the key. Don't worry, it can be done, and it isn't all that hard! Just post back if you have questions! 🙂

Simplest way is to create a factory restore media using Asus BacktrackerCreate the USB media, put your SSD In and restore the back up to your SSD.

Help you do. 🙂 There is no question about that whatsoever. We need all the help we can get. As @chrsplmr would say, that's the ROG spirit.
