I am unable to get my asus laptop to turn on then stay on or display anything to the monitor nor an external monitor. It will turn on for a second then power right back off. I have tried switching memory slots and checking the connections wires etc. Now it's plugged running no display still and the fans are roaring full blast.....that's all that is going on : (

EDIT 1. Oh boy.....wouldn't turn off.....started to stink when I held power button down to turn it off now whole room stinks didn't see any smoke

EDIT 2. All I did prior to this issue was open it up and clean the fans of dust it had a lot of dust on it.

EDIT 3. Also if it's the mobo or I need to send in for service or any of that would I be better off getting a new laptop : /

Sounds like something burned up. Can't say that you opening it up caused it, but it could if you weren't careful when you took the notebook apart.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Sorry to hear that, mate, but it seems like something went wrong and sadly enough since it's not youtube, they will not send a team of highly trained monkeys to fix it (hope someone will get the joke).

On the more serious note, I'd suggest you find a place where you could ask how much repairing could cost and then decide for yourself whether or not you should buy a new laptop. It does matter what you have right now, but since you posted this in older G's, then I would suggest going new if you have money for it.

Another thing is that you scratched something on the MOBO, or GPU started to overheat because of something. Are the fans working? Because you said you've cleaned them, maybe now they're stuck or something (just a wild guess, but what can you know).

Either way, best of luck.

Yeah, getting a new computer would be a good plan, they are significantly faster in the GPU department these days - the CPUs are faster, but not by much.

Haven't been able to post in a while @_@ but yeah my left fan kind of looks like it slows down when I turn it on but my fans go full force I watch it go and the display never works external monitor or not...just keeps spinning and roaring never really booting up posting to bios or anything I bought a new mobo on ebay and replaced my old one and still same issue : /

here is my private youtube video of the issue the sound of the fans that is...

also forgot to mention that my ribbon connector the power one to mobo burnt up when the laptop wouldn't turn off with me holding the power button before it started to stink idk if holding the button made it do this or not...
