Hello everybody!

This summer, I am getting a job and building a beast but for now I have an okay laptop to work with.
I play games like TF2, KSP, Minecraft, Loadout, NWN 2 and a few others.
Amazingly, this old thing (I got it like 3 years ago) with a simple i3-2320, intel HD 3000 integrated graphics and 4 gigs of RAM runs all of those games at around 30fps on average settings. But I am looking to upgrade it, until I can build my jabberwocky of a pc. I have an extremely limited budget 100-200USD.

My questions are if this would work, and if the videocard would be a worthwhile upgrade.

imho it would be better to put that money in the 'new build saving for' pile.
The chances of a low end laptop having a slot for a laptop card is probably nil and none.
(thats a pc card)

You dont say what model lappy it is so it's impossible to know if it would run the memory.
as for the last thing .. most laptops have a vga port, as do most flatscreens .. cable is about
$10 bucks ..

My advice is save your money, enjoy the games you can and be patient my friend. .c.

C, no disrespect but it's a cheap upgrade and It doesn't need the slot. It has usbs, which are all I need. It's what the adapter is for. I can plug the GPU into the adapter.
I just want to know if I would gain a performance increase.

Also my laptop's screen sort off broke off (won't go into details) and the VGA port is occupied. By a VGA cable hooked up to a monitor.

Well, as I understand that your laptop screen is kind of broken I assume that the laptop has seen a lot of work. Now the vga card and the adapter could come useful in the future, maybe you're bulding a small pc for basic needs or god forbid your main pc's Gpu malfunctioned you can always test it with he R6450. However the memory is a bit costy I would go for a cheaper memory, still 1600mhz. But if you intened to buy another laptop sometime and you can use that memory, sure go ahead and get the G.skill, those are great memory sticks. In my opinion always.

I'm not getting something here. You can't plug that PCI Express graphics card into that adapter. That adapter is a USB -> DVI displaylink adapter (www.displaylink.com) for adding an extra monitor to a laptop. I have a bucket of them in my office very similar from eVGA for adding to customers PCs when they need a 3rd monitor on a laptop and only have 2 outs on their docking station.

That USB video card will be fine for having a second monitor for basic web-surfing or things, that's it. They have terrible (read non-existent) 3D support, and take some of your CPU power to run (like older Intel integrated graphics did).

I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!
