Charger gets really hot

Hi there
I'm a newbie here so apologies in advance if this question has been answered before. I have recently bought a ASUS laptop (R704A) and the charger gets really hot when charging and also if it is just plugged in to the electricity supply. This did not happen with my previous laptop charger. Is this a problem?
Thanks
Shirley

Hi Shirric, Welcome to the ROG forum. I would suggest posting this in the notebook section. You will get better responses from people that would know. List what kind of laptop it is. Have a great day.

Depending on how much gaming you are doing, the charger can get warm, yes, but if it gets really hot (painful to the touch), that is not normal.

Moved to notebook section.
