Hi, you can update the BIOS and VGA driver first for a try.
Also, have you ever dismantled your unit?

Did you notice problem after updating to Win8.1 and try disabling the bluetooth to check if it's related to this?

Although they don't have the same model, some G750 customers reported this issue and thought you might want to give it a try since it's not too difficult:

Also, if disabling the bluetooth is able to help and you want to use the bluetooth, check the ASUS download site for the latest G55VW Win8.1 bluetooth drivers:

    Good luck!

Looks like Intel vga driver V10.18.10.3308.02 and nVidia driver V9.18.13.2683 (or 326.83?) are posted on the ASUS G55VW download site for Win8.1, so you may want to compare and consider upgrading (or downgrading?) to those versions to see if they make a difference or let us know which versions you are using?

If you don't use the ASUS approved vga drivers for your model, it can cause problems sometimes, so we want to check this too although you might only update the Intel vga driver first if you don't want to change your nVidia vga driver yet.

Sorry, was wondering about that myself and just trusted the download site, but that should be a mistake about the Intel vga driver since I don't see anything for it posted under the G55VW Win7 or Win8 downloads.

Makes me wonder if you want to even try the nVIdia driver posted on the ASUS G55VW Win8.1 downloads, but maybe you should check your installed version first.
