I'm looking to do a build and I'm on a budget. Which would you rather go with? The 4 core i7 4770k or the 8 core FX8350? Please explain your choice.

It's in store pickup only.

Don't get the FX-8350. If you go AMD, get an FX-9590 or FX-9370. They're not a silicon lottery like the others. Pretty much all of the FX-9xxxs can hit 5GHz on an H100i.

Intel - they are simply better. 😄 The floating-point performance is worlds ahead, and very few people can use 8 cores right now. If you edit video, then maybe, but you will want the floating-point performance for all the effects, so again Intel.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Sorry. I'm building a gaming rig. I'd like to spend around 400 to 500 on a mobo and processor.

Which means intel is going to be a really expensive route.
FX-9370 + Crosshair V Formula Z.

Formula VI Hero ($199) + i5-4670K ($239) on Newegg. If you're just gaming I doubt you'll need the i7 threads. Slap Corsair H Series cooler on for around $100. Overclock to over 4ghz.

He said 400-500USD for just CPU and mobo. FX-9370 is faster than the i5-4670k, and cheaper too.

Yeah, 230TDP CPU on stock clocks? I'll pass thanks... Not to mention i5 beats AMD in almost every benchmark.
