Please help me correctly OC my 8350

OK! i have my water loop in place and purring like a kitten. I want to OC my CPU. I purchased Aida64 and have run stress tests with various settings, but not really sure how to do this correctly.

Please help me with a step by step.

first.. should i leave the DOCP profile active and OC from there ( i have 32GB of GSKILL 9 11 11 31 2133 RAM )
or should i set to manual and adjust from there?

should i just play with the CPU Ratio? or do i leave that and play with CPU Bus Freq? Does one method yield better temps than the other?

Thank you for your help as I'm excited to get a nice OC going since i have the cooling for it finally. 🙂

Hey there, im brandnew to the forums, but what found to help me OC my PC was a video from a guy on youtube name Jay2Cents. He pretty much goes into detail on how to OC your 8350. This video is over a year ago, and some of the BIOS has changed. Im sure others can assist if you wish to not watch the video. I used his video, and was able to OC my AMD to 4.6Ghz with an H100i.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MckeAmnDeTk

Remember ALWAYS TAKE O.C. as a slow process.
KEYNOTES:
CPU SOCKET MAX TEMP 70°C
CPU CORE "PACKAGED" MAX TEMP 61.1°C
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1727374/official-8350-temps.html
Monitor these temps with CPUID HWMonitor, or something that shows the CORES and SOCKET TEMP. You want to monitor the cores though. HWMonitor takes highest Core and display it as a Packaged. Which is fine. In the video you will see he has CORES showing each temp. Remember this video is a year old old, and Bios, and programs updates change the layout sometimes. But if you keep good notes of everything, you should not have a problem. He's very good at explaining.

Again im new here, so if you wish to wait for one of the vets that's fine.

Good luck

i'll post pics in a couple hours.. but, at the moment i have a very stable oc at 4766. 19 x 250 for multiplier and 1.3625 volts... for some reason, however, cpuz is reading my core voltage at 1.404.. so, something is causing it to ramp up.
also.. if i set core v at 1.4, i cannot get a stable oc at any level above 4766.

ram is set to 2000 at moment.

again, i'll post all shots tonight of setup and cpuz. I would love to get a bit more out of it and then work the memory. cooling is staying good. core under prime 95 after several hours is 44 C and socket is 60 c.

also.. ran stress test in aida 64... for some reason that stress doesn't seem to work the cpu as hard as prime95 does.. anyone know why? my temps are WAY lower on aida. like.. 45 c socket and 33 core.

Doesn't that have something in the DIGI Control, in bios the CPU Voltage over control protection?
I added a time stamp on this video where Jay talks about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=MckeAmnDeTk#t=353

The temps look great.
I know Prime95 has settings you choose before you start the stress you can control what it test more of. Does Aida64 have that type of option?

answer to first question.. i'll watch that.. im unsure.. lol

second question.. kinda same as first... I was unaware that you could "change" the test... ???

I am barely even scratching 5ghz with my 9370, and it is not rock solid prime95, but it is solid enough for everyday use :S

not to get off topic but... how are you cooled? air? closed loop water? or custom loop? i have recently seen the difference in all three.. i have a noctua nh-u12s, and corsair h100i... between those two solutions the noctua was the better and wouldn't allow me to oc at all.. ( im suspecting case limitations in airflow... ) I built a simple loop with an ek supremacy block, a 240 mm x 30 mm slim profile alphacool rad up top and a 120mm x 30 mm slim alphacool on back ( again, space restrictions ) and my goodness did it make a difference! for fans i am using nf-f12's for the rads and nf-s12a pwms for the case.

What are your temps? I am on h100i, temps top 55 celsius, ambient temperature around 15-20 I think
