I bought my laptop from BestBuy under the impression that it had a dual channel network adapter.

My specific model is G75VX-BHI7N11.

The specs page shows they come with either 802.11 b/g/n or ac. When searching for WiFi, my computer picks up the 2.4GHz signal, but not the 5GHz. I have all the latest network drivers from the Asus Support website. I also checked the forum for similar questions and most none of them actually have an answer.

I have the Atheros network driver.

try getting Inssider 3 or 4 it should show which card that you have

you can also see it a bit more detailed with HWinfo

then google the number, it should be like: Atheros AR9485 AR9004WB something like that...

I have the Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter. It's the correct adapter too, because I uninstalled it and tried installing a different network adapter, but it installed the Broadcom 802.11ac again instead.

It's up to date according to the Asus website, but even through it can do b/g/n/ac, is it only a 2.4GHz network card? It still fails to detect my router's 5GHz signal, but my Xbox One detects it just fine.

I've been looking for more up to date drivers online that are not on the Asus website, but there's a whole mess of them with the same name and completely different version numbers.

then tells us the model number please of the Network card 🙂
with the provided "tools" I listed^

InSSIDer 3 for home
InSSIDer 4 with AC support
or the HWinfo64 installer or portable
there are a **** ton of different ASUS models out there.

if it doesn't show the 5Ghz band, then there is no wireless AC capabilities since AC requires 5Ghz.

then it might be just the crappy 2.4Ghz network card.

or that your Network card is fried as balls on the 5Ghz magic stuff.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you got the a/b/g/n wireless card... by the way, which adapter do you have? in your 1st post, you say you have Atheros and then in your second post, you suddenly have Broadcom...which is it? and sorry to be so blunt, but if you read the specs first(done some research) you'd have found out your model only has a/b/g/n wireless, specs found here: http://www.amazon.com/G75VX-BHI7N11-i7-3630QM-3-4GHz-670MX-Windows/dp/B00CN54DJE#productDetails
