Hey guys,
Just wondering what the thoughts are on cpu choice for early 3D (01-05/6). Frequency seems to be the key factor although from looking at sub's on the bot i can't decided on what's the best suited processor. Like for like (freq) i'm assuming 4770k will rule but on the whole some of it's predecessors clock higher.
So, what's the recommendation on this one, especially for running down to -100deg….

The top choice is a 4770K that can do 6.2-6.5GHz but they are extremely hard to find.
The next choice would be a 3770K that can do 6.5-6.7GHz which are hard to find but not impossible.
Out of curiosity, what cooling are you using to reach -100 degrees?

2 stage cascade, which is something i need to take into consideration with regards to potential max clock for each chip. i.e, will 3770k do better than HW down to those temps...
3770K will need -180C or better.
At -100C and a cascade you'll need to go the Haswell route, as most of those chips only run as low as -120C to -130C
