My laptop is a few years old now and has recently started running very hot all the time even while idle. I have done a clean install of windows and even updated the AMD drivers to no prevail, does anyone have an idea to what may be the problem?

80C is still normal and fine, its when it approaches 90C+ when its time to really worry. But either way, the factory thermal paste on the laptop was terrible. Its recommended to use IC7 thermal paste as it has a bit more viscosity to it (its thicker).

You will find a few videos on youtube on disassembly and performing a repaste to your G73JH.

The laptop never use to run this hot and now when playing games on absolute low settings(Only doing this now because of the over heating issue) the GPU is running around 88 C. Ill look into reapplying the thermal paste.

If you can do this safely, check your heatsink for dust or blow it out, and also make sure your fans are running okay in addition to checking the thermal paste.

Good luck!
