g73jh bios freezing

When i bought the laptop i put a boot password in through the bios. The password works, but when i spam F2 to get into the bios a blue and grey line flash in the middle of the screen. Then it goes to a black screen and freezes. Is there any way to reset the bios to default?

I believe that if you power down, remove the battery, then hold the power button down for a minute or so it has the same effect as resetting BIOS defaults.

Just tried that nothing happened. Im starting to think the bios is running but not being displayed. For some reason while spamming F keys and stuff my boot order got changed and the next boot i was able to quit out of the black screen... Any ideas?

We had someone else with almost the same problem, yesterday. Turned out to be a bad hdd . Look - http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showthread.php?4512-G73-black-screen-on-boot...

You could also try to cold boot with an external monitor attached if the HDD is ok. Then go into the BIOS and reset to defaults. Also there may be a pin hole on the bottom of your machine (the G73JH has one) - press with a paper clip and hold for 10 seconds.

The HD is fine using the laptop right now. Just cant do anything wit the BIOS. Tried the paper clip button thing to no avail.

so it boots, you just can't enter the bios correct?

also, why password the bios?

Did you try an external keyboard to f2 into the BIOS?
