Just installed: Blue Screen

Forgive me if this has been posted before. I tried to search briefly, but I'm short on time.

I bought a bunch of new computer parts, one being this board:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1BNCr

I've installed all of these parts with my old computer. The parts I reused were the memory, case and PSU.

This memory(DR3-1333): http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/eng/module/details/module_20_HMT125U7TFR8C.jsp (Not 100% sure if compatible, but it does fit in the slots)
This PSU (Measly 350W): http://launch3telecom.com/pdf/chiconyelectronics/cpb09001b.pdf

Now I know I'll need a new power supply, so, I'm using my old card for now.

But even with everything else installed, I'm having this issue. I turn on the PC and it reads the board and I can go to the BIOS. If I let it continue to start windows, it goes to the Windows screen for a few seconds, then it blue screens and restarts itself. If you let it continue again, it'll take you to a system repair screen for windows, which doesn't help anything.

Any ideas as to might have caused this?

My only ideas are:
-Memory incompatible
-Drivers needed for motherboard to be installed
-Something not plugged in?

-------------

The system repair also generates a report. Everything passes but this here:

Repair action: System files integrity check and repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490

----------

I do get a blue screen, but I am unable to read the error code. It auto-restarts, is there a way I can turn this off in the BIOS? I'll continue to comb the manual.

Thanks for reading.

Hello

What are you using for a hard drive? Is it from the old system with the operating system still intact? If so you need to perform a fresh install of the operating system. The power supply may also be an issue.

also full specs please, not what your planning but what u actually have right now, i see your parts cart shows a 770 but you say your running an older card

also i cant really find to much on your ram, but what i did find says it's ECC ram, the board only supports Non-ECC ram

if you do have the 770 according to Nvidia it uses a minimum of 230 watts so already id say u were pushing the psu

also the motherboard requires no drivers in itself to boot, if running a raid setup those drivers may need to be loading when installing windows but thats different

as windows xp, 7 and 8 have plug and play and auto enable drivers you shouldnt need any to get a first time boot going unless of course as mentioned above if you have a raid setup

currently tho as it stands, the ram and PSU you have wont make the cut at all when getting your parts from the picker list, the ram may already be giving you issues

also when you say it restarts and tries to go into startup repair, have you ever chosen the start windows normally option there to see what happens

First of all, I appreciate the replies. I've built computers for years, but they have been low end models. I'm not as familiar with big or fast builds. So thanks for your patience. 😃

Specs of my old computer:

This computer was a refurbished XPS 8100. The original computer can be found here: http://www.dell.com/us/dfh/p/studio-xps-8100/pd

(I'm having trouble finding the link to the exact board, but here's the ebay one of what it looks like and has.)

This PSU and DVD drive are original to the XPS 8100.

Specs of the current computer:

Mobo: Maximus VI Hero
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i74770k)
Hynix 8G Ram
ATI Radeon HD 5770 (Due to the Geforce's need of a new CPU)
PSU Chicany CPB09-001B
Hard Drive 1.5TB 7200 RPM 0H184K
Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Edition

I do believe that's everything. Let me know if I've missed something out.

------------------

I intend to replace the PSU. Regarding my problem, I did believe it was the RAM as the most likely cause. It's probably as you said, the board doesn't accept the RAM. So, I believe I shall be buying new RAM.

Is there anything else I should be concerned with that I may have missed?

Again, thank you for your help. 😃
