Leaving FX8350 for Intel build.

Hi all,

First post, so Helloooooooo.

I currently have an FX8350 @ 4.6 on air, Sabertooth 990, 8Gb Hyper X Beast, Crucial M4 SSD and a GTX590.

Wanting to swap out the CPU and Mobo for an Intel solution.

Mainly gaming, DayZ, Metro, Crysis, FFXIV, Tera, etc

I need to move over at some time, question is when..? and to what.

Fancy going I7, but....do I wait or go for it now.

The solution needs to spank my current CPU.

Only CPU and Mobo for now, GPU is still good for a bit longer, well until I get a GTX780Ti.

Thanks.

Chris. 😄

i5 unless you need hyper treading.
just be shure you can use your current ram on the intel board, and it HAVE TO BE one kit of ram too.
motherboard?
well depends on what you want, small , normal or large and price range.

i think there will be no huge difference between fx 8350 vs i7 4770k. I say wait for the fifth generation intel cpus and ddr4 rams. I think it will take one or two years. Buy a corsair h100i and try higher clocks.

A 4670k would outperform the FX8350 in most tasks, but double check it with games - I'm not much into gaming...
Then you can choose some nice ROG board from the LGA1150 palette, as kkn said depending on the size you want...

I'm not too much for the DDR4 memories... let's just wait how they play...

i see ppl having problems whit AMD compare to inten on BF4.
huge lag and hangs compare to intel machines.
if it is mantle thats doing it or not lm not shure.

put down the amount you want to spend on a motherboard and we can go from there. 🙂

£200 max on mobo.
I7 4770K approx £200..?

Going to keep everything else for now and get a loop sorted for later in the year.

I built AMD machines for many years, switched permanently when Sandy Bridge was released.
For me, there's no going back, Intel is light years ahead of AMD when it comes to performance.
The Z87 platform will be around for a while, I would opt for a 4770K, buy it when it goes on sale at Newegg.

i own a fx 8150(worse than fx8350) machine and a i7 4770k. For gaming there isnt any difference if you got high end graphics card (gtx780 , titan etc.) But i accept that if you want to do rendering , video editing , huge autocad drawings , torrent archives(like 20tb) , raid setups go for i7 4770k. For the best of all go for i7-4960x.

What's your budget and how long can you wait? Might as well buy everything together. If you're upgrading around June-July then you have to be considering Devil's Canyon and ROG Z97 with that GTX 780 Ti. You can keep your memory and SSD, but you've not detailed your cooler or PSU (or monitor!) either 😉
