    LOL

...the RIVE is the Rampage IV Extreme made for SB-E chips like 3820K; RIVBE the same board but black edition made for IB-E like 4820K they are the 2011 socket boards.

You would have to do a bit of research to see if 2011 has any advantage over 1150 for sims...with things like quad channel memory etc. If not then a Haswell refresh with soldered IHS and a good OCing board will get you the performance boost you need. I presume the 5.0GHz is Sandybridge recommendation...the newer chips are more efficient clock for clock so lower OC would probably give same performance...

thing is a 4820K doesn't have to be delided to get performance...but then Haswell refresh might not have to be either ...

I did a quick look in AVSIM and the consensus was the 4820 was better in a few respects but the 4770k was a better FSX chip overall.

While Ripjaws Z will work, it is optimized for the X79 platform.

You'd be better off with Trident X or Vengeance Pro.

Thanks, I did not know that.

Which would you recommend knowing I am shooting for 5GHz?

    Thanks

It doesn't make a difference, as long as the individual kit itself is good.

    Flight Sim Rig
    Budget:$1,200 USD
Main uses of intended build: FSX, P3D, iRacing

Been running FSX since 2009 I agree with the other post like to make a recommendation for a computer build and FSX set up. Followed this guide to the T using as Rampage lll Black Edition with I-7 990x clocked at 4.6 GHz. Never had issues with FSX crashing or locking up the system.

In the process of building on a Rampage lV Black Edition the computer is used for other applications and I did not want to D lid the CPU for a LGA 1150 void the warranty on the CPU.

Concider a fast Samsung SSD 500 gb for your sims (if they´ll all fit, you may have a ton of add-ons).
And do concider joining user group "ROG Air Ways" for more flight talk :-)
