    Can't overclock 4770k

    Hello just wanted to know if any one has any thoughts as to why I can't overclock my cpu no matter what I try when I go to reboot windows 8 says it encountered a problem and could not start. My system is asus Maximus 6 hero intel 4770k GeForce 770 video card corsair h100 I water cooler and crucial ballistic sport memory 16 gig

    Usually if you get that error before windows starts (blue screen that states that) you don't have enough volts for the over clock you are doing. As mentioned above it would be helpful to know what settings you are trying.

    first I tried asus ai suite all three settings then I tried to do it manually 4.0 with 1.23 volts and same error

    With stock settings what is the CPU voltage shown when the system is fully loaded?

    Same problem same system except mine maximus vi extreme and 32gb ram ,, i tried to get at least 4.1mhz with 1.23 volt even 1.25 volt its just faild around 66 °c and above

    Be prepared, you may just have a low quality chip.
    I was able to get 4.5 once on my old chip by volting at 1.36 for just one run of Realbench.
    Now my new chip will sit at 4.2 all day at about 1.25
    I generally drop back to 3.9 or 4.0 at 1.06 and have no issues
    I am guessing, if the first AIsuite over clock (3.9) doesn't work for you, you maybe just SOL
