G75VX VS. G750JW - Performance and Parts Compatibility

Hello,

I apologise for the rush but I need a quick response because I have been offered an Asus G750. On performance, would I see any performance increase/decrease on the GTX765m GPU of the G750JW compared to the G75MX's GTX670MX? The most graphics-intensive games I play are only Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2.

Currently I have a bricked G75VX here. Next question, is the G75VX RAM compatible with the G750JW? The VX has 32GB and it would be a waste not to use it.

The G750 is the later model more powerful faster and newer most likely a longer warranty.

Yes, but only new G750JZ GTX880M revision would make a difference as older G750JW (GTX765M) gives almost same results in 3D Mark 06 in comparison with G75(GTX670M). Also G750 has limited maintenance as fan's are not accessible from back cover like in G75 and only service stations would take to clean it as full disassembly required. Another drawback is that CPU is soldered on motherboard with no possible upgrade, moreover it's possible to upgrade up to 3720QM in G75.

Hmm. True, the G750 is slightly faster. The 670MX and 765M comparison is a bit confusing though because the former is faster on some aspects and can be overclocked to be better than the 765M (I am basing the info on this site) but then I do not overclock my GPUs. I'll make a decision shortly. I can wait for my G75VX to be fixed though - I am just waiting for the BIOS chip to arrive within this month.

Hi,

Oh. Well it is very unlikely that I will change the CPU but it is still nice to know about the soldered CPU on the motherboard on the G750. I decided to stick with my G75VX. I think I can fix it - I have been scouring the web for info so I think I know what to do. Anyway I only play StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 and I do not need more power. And shallow as it may seem but I actually do not like the look of the G750. I wish Asus would revisit the G73 - it is the best-looking G-series in my opinion - even better than my VX.

Also you would not be able to move your 32GB RAM sticks if:
the existing 32GB RAM is DDR3 1.5v

but if they are low powered RAM's DDR3L: 1.35v or 1.25v
then you can move them over to the new Haswell based system.

Thanks for the info. Good thing I decided not to purchase because of the RAM incompatibility, it is 1.5V.
