12 GB of installed ram, what else would you need to know?
It is still brand new.

Above all you need to download Asus Backtracker and create a restore to factory condition media. I linked you to the how to use page there is a download link there also. DO THIS NOW

Just for your information new or not, there are any number of different versions of the G75VW. See my signature for my Specs. I would advise you to update you Signature to show your configuration. all the major vendors have there own configurations besides the several different versions that Asus put out to smaller vendors and vendor that don't specify there own versions. Mine came with everything I needed or wanted.
It would be hard to tell you what you might want to upgrade to with out knowing what you already have.

What you really should be concerning yourself with is testing your new notebook and insuring everything you have is working correctly.
Furmark will stress test your GPU, I use Burn in test to Stress test CPU any testing program you come up with as long as they will max out your hardware will do. What your looking for is weak pasting of the heat sinks to your CPU and GPU. Your GPU temps should max out at around 83C and your CPU shouldn't get much over 72C these are full 100% stress test 15 minutes
insure your WiFi, Lan, Audio USB 3.0 Bluetooth CD or DVD or BD which ever you have all this hardware needs to be working if it isn't you'll want to know this before your return to vendor period expires. And

Did you run the Backtracker and create a restore media??
Looks like you need to update to Win 8.11. Be sure to make that restore media before upgrading to 8.1 Also you'll need to go to Asus Support Download and download the Win 8.1 drivers I think the WiFi and Bluetooth have specific drivers for 8.1.
All the other drivers that you need to update will be in the Win 8 section so check them both out and download the latest version

Here are links the upgrade Threads that should get you going.

well, what do you have?

CPU
Harddrive/s
DVD/BD Drive?
Wireless Card
rig: Impact VII / 4790K / Crucial Ballistix SP 16GB 1600Mhz/ 256GB 850 Pro
Corsair AX760 / H105 AIO Watercooling / Bitfenix Prodigy
laptop: G75VW 3630QM / 670m /16GB RAM / 256GB 840 Pro + 750gb/ BD drive
Gaming OC for 670m 750/1750

750 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40 GHz
12.0 GB RAM,
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M,
699GB HDD
CD-RW/DVDRW,

All you need it a 256 GB SSD, If you want to upgrade your ram to 16 GB match exactly the currently installed RAM You should have 3 4GB Sticks and one empty slot, and fill in the empty slot with a stick that exactly matches.
The SSD is the only upgrade that your going notice and feel a difference.

I'll use Newegg for reference and Ebay for the CPU. just so you can see them.

The absolute easiest upgrade you can do is to get:

an SSD. I use an Samsung 840 Pro in my G75VW. And use these on different machines: the Samsung 840 EVO is the cheaper solution, but works just as fine. The intel 530 is also very price competive.

you can get either of them and enjoy the fast speeds. you really won't notice the diference for everyday tasks. except on benchmarking tools 🙂
although the Samsung 840 EVO only has 3 years of warranty, where as the 840 Pro & Intel 530 comes with a 5 year warranty 🙂 (at least here in europe).
SSD's does wonders, and I recommend having it as the first upgrade. and see if you need anything else upgraded, after you've tried hving the SSD for a month.
🙂
and I upgraded my Wireless card to an Intel 7260 it does wonders if you have a NAS you wirelessly backup your files to 🙂

now these are for "Balls to the walls" Max upgrades you can do:
Eventually you can upgrade your ram to 32GB to max out your system. just get 4 x 8GB DDR3L 1600Mhz. Corsair vengeance

and for the maximum CPU you can get a Intel 3840QM.

more balls to the walls upgrade:
if you have en 660M upgrade it to 670m or even more balls walls: 670mx with some vbios mod and the fitting heatsink.

and another easy "upgrade" would be to Overclock your Graphics card. Be it 660m or 670m just search for OC (overclocking) guides in the forums 🙂

if you go the "balls to the walls extreme" MAX upgrades CPU/GPU/RAM/SSD/WiFi Card. 🙂
it will be basically cheaper to buy the latest ROG laptops, considering you get newer tech out of it too :).

so I can recommend you to upgrade to an SSD and maybe a new wireless card, if it is needed. and the RAM to a total of 16GB. if you are not using it for content creating/rendering.
