Various problems under OS X, but not sure what is the culprit, of course could be also driver related.

Ah, I thought you said something about ASMEDIA earlier in this thread. So nothing USB related has changed with your BIOS?

If you want I can post latest firmware and driver for USB 3..
I found something at station-drivers.com, but I am not sure if it would be a good idea to update the FW from there. Also the latest FW seems to be a bit older. So, I thought a BIOS update also updates FW if nessesary, but this is not true?

So, on the R4E do I have recent USB FW or would it actually make sense to update?

Sorry for the stupid questions, am no expert on this!

Yes, that is right, and also Win 8. Dual UEFI boot, using clover.

I also know Andrews (Rampage Devs) Site very well, and I also have the correct driver. Problem is that despite of that USB3 (and also USB2) is rather shaky, in particular exhibits strange problems with my iOS devices, also fails to correctly save / reload context when sleeping, leading to disconnect of attached drives and so on. While the rest of my hack runs pretty well, USB is and has been a bag of hurt from the very beginning : /

So, _if_ you would have updated the ASM1042 Firmware with your patched BIOS as well, I could give this a try. If not, I think it would be not worth the effort. Hence my question

Well, so as I understand, there are no changes to USB(3) functionality with your modded BIOS, right? And would it make sense to try updating the firmware directly, or should this also be at the latest version now? And I don't want to brick my board using an external firmware, so I am actually more wary of doing that than flashing a modded BIOS (Dual BIOS ftw!)

Firmware CAN NOT be included in the BIOS. Period. It's altogether different.

    you must update it manually.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5A...ew?usp=sharing

Download that. It's the newest firmware that will work with the RIVE. I'm running it myself.

Just open the executable and it will update USB 3 controller firmware. Then reboot. Done.

OK, I see. I thought I had one instance where I observed sth that looked like a FW update the first time I updated my BIOS, but of course I might have sth mixed up.

Anyway, tried your updater and it said I already have the latest version. So I think it is more a problem with the USB3 kext I think.

Thanks for your kind help nonetheless!

No problem! BTW.. If USB 3 works properly in windows 8.. Then your issue would be with OSX..
