Brand new Laptop and clean Windows installation.
Updated BIOS to 2.02

When starting the machine, the keyboard lights flashes and I am able to enter BIOS and use keyboard.
When Windows is booting, the lights go out and keyboard is disabled (not working) on the Windows login screen.

If I put the laptop in sleep mode from Windows login screen, I am able to wake the computer again, and lights go on and keyboard works.

I have tried ATK drivers v. 0008, v.00010 and v.00014

Any ideas?

sounds like the hardware is working but there's a problem software wise.

has this problem persisted since you bought the laptop or is it a recent problem?

If you wait a while does the KB remain unresponsive?

The laptop is brand new, received it tuesday.

In the beginning the keyboard did not have this issue (First install of Windows)

I then had some issues with keyboard.. seemed very laggy etc. so I updated BIOS and ATK drivers.
Still everything seemed fine after this.

In the same evening after updating BIOS, ATK I put the computer to sleep S3 before calling it a day.
When I started Laptop next morning It had a message about not being able to recover, and wanted to delete the image on HDD.. didn't really notice the exact wording, but I think it had something to do with memory corruption... maybe.

Anyway.. Laptop booted just fine but now it disabled the keyboard while loading Windows.

I am quite sure this is a software problem (since it works if I put laptop in S3 and wakes it up again, and also works just fine in BIOS), I just don't have any idea how to fix it... Maybe complete reinstall of Windows but would rather avoid that.

Keyboard remains unresponsive with lights off....

ok try this. uninstall the ATK driver set and the KB Filter. run CCleaner. restart the computer. then reinstall the ATK driver set.

use the newer set, the one that's not supposed to have any issues. if that doesn't work, try going through that process again, but use the drivers that are on the disc.

let me know if that works.

... then try this; open a cmd prompt then type powercfg -h off. This will remove your hiberfil.sys file. Then recreate the file with powercfg -h on

Btw, I don't like hibernation mode. I'd rather use sleep or just shut down. But you have to remember to save your work (not like hiberrnation is any more reliable than hibernation. . . But hibernation prolly saves battery if you forget your notebook for a long time)

Tried to uninstall ATK and KB Filter, ran CCleaner reboot.. CCleaner again.
Reinstall latest ATK drivers... still not working

Tried to emove the hibernate file and create a new one.. still not working

Removed ATK again and installed ATK from driver disk... Now it worked yeaaa
Removed ATK and installed latest ATK (00014) ... still working..

Not sure what was actually wrong, but at least it now works again without re-installing Windows.

I was wrong about the command line parameters to disable/enable hibernate. Sorry . . . 😞

Personally, I would just leave hibernate disabled. It takes 12gb space on your drive (if you have 12 gb RAM) and IMO hibernate isn't as reliable as sleep.

it might've been a particular component of the driver or something.

ok for future reference, once you get the drivers for that laptop working right, leave em alone.

disable hibernate? i use hibernate all the time.

But I don't. It probably takes longer to read a 12GB hiberfil.sys than it does to cold boot.
