random crashes - and video hardware error - G75V

la0
Level 7
bad crashes on my G75V (Win7), began suddenly- nothing unusual in Event Viewer, all scans are clean, ran sfc and Chkdsk, nothing odd there, etc)

** got 1 Video Hardware Error, about a week ago:
"A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly."
- LiveKernelEvent Locale ID: 1033

** updated via Windows Update:
Intel(R) Management Engine Interface - DRIVER INSTALL SUCCESSFUL
Intel - Other Hardware - Management Engine Interface - WIN UPDATE SUCCESSFUL

on my ASUS Resource Center, when i click ASUS LIVE UPDATE, it looks like it's going to download LIVEUPDATE.EXE, but nothing much happens after that.

-> ANY IDEAS?

i love my G75- but it's close to 2 yrs old now, and it's seemed... a litte "fragile" sometimes.
hope it's not a hardware problem.

*** How do we check our DRIVERS are current?
Is LIVEUPDATE.EXE working, without giving me any further signs?

Don't use liveupdate. You can download the latest Asus Approved Drivers Here
What are your temps looking like? CPU And GPU you can see these temp and load using Hwinfo64

Your getting Video card errors, so benchmark your GPU Furmark will push your GPU and show you any errors run a 1080 Burn in test your GPU Temp and 100% load should not exceed 85C

to be clear:
i only had *one* Video Hardware Error- and it happened 2 wks *after* the 1st crash. so i'm not sure it's related.

** when i use your link for asus drivers, it pulls up "99 files" for my G75V -- any way to narrow down what i need?
i download them to desktop, then double-click to activate?
system restore will fix me, if this creates any new problems?

i don't even know how to check which drivers/versions i'm currently running.

** YOU WROTE:
" GPU Furmark will push your GPU and show you any errors run a 1080 Burn in test your GPU Temp and 100% load should not exceed 85C "
- Your "Furmark" LINK links to hwinfo.com/download a 2nd time -- did you mean for me to use this Furmark utlity:

-- thanks for your help, by the way!

You would find your hardware in Device Manager right clicking something and clicking on properties then Drivers will show you which drivers are installed

Yes to eliminate any over heating issues with your GPU, run the Furmark program. What your looking for is over heating. Download from which ever site you like. I trust Major Geeks that's why I link it.

Downloading updated drivers you only need the latest ones each one has a date. In the list the latest will be at the top of the topic.

as far as i can tell, my drivers are updated. i checked manually like you suggested; also had Windows 'search for updates' are no 'newer ones' were found.
i had 5 freezes/crashes this month. last one was nearly a week ago.
no idea what this could be.

Yea your temps look great. so that should rule out over heating. So you have some sort of a software conflict. If you can't sort it out a clean install may be required with careful testing as you reinstall your software hopefully you 'll figure out which one caused the problems.
